Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu says the decision to form or join another political party rests with former prime minister and Leader of Opposition Sitiveni Rabuka.
“That is up to him and it is up to the members because that is their freedom and their right,” he said.
The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) vice-president also confirmed he brought Mr Rabuka to join the party.
He, however, did not comment on who his choice of party leader was.
“The guards keep changing with the old guards that are still there and this is just one of those changes.
“I made my decision in the meeting, my decision remains in the meeting “I can’t divulge it out here because it is part of the process.”
