New magistrate sworn in

A NEW resident magistrate was sworn in at the State House this morning before the President, Jioji Konrote.

Magistrate Kasthurirathne Delpathe Yapa Mudiyanselage Nayani Nirmala Kasthurirathne joins the Magistrates Court in Fiji after her appointment was formalised by Mr Konrote before the Chief Justice Anthony Gates and Chief Registrar Yohan Liyanage and Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

Ms Nayani Kasturiratne who holds a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Colombo served as former State Counsel of the Attorney General’s Department in Colombo.

She also served as Attorney-at-Law in in 2006 as an Attorney-at-law and was a private practicing lawyer in the fields of Criminal law, Civil law and Commercial law.
