New hospital to reduce load at CWMH

THE new 20-bed Navua Hospital is expected to assist in decreasing the load currently handled by the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.
Minister for Health Dr Neil Sharma said the new hospital facilities would enable it to carry out more procedures, meaning less people would be referred to Suva.
“There’s a full fledged lab that will deal with all the tests rather than referring everything to Suva so once the facilities are there and the doctors and nurses use it effectively, the outcome will be a lot better,” Dr Sharma said.
He said the hospital would benefit the people of Navua and the whole sub-division.
“The hospital will help reduce the load at CWM and with an operating theatre of this calibre, we would be able to do some operations here.”
