New fuel and LPG prices effective from tomorrow

Consumers are expected to dig just a little deeper into their pockets come October 1, 2020, when new prices of fuel and LPG prices come into effect.

The Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has determined the new regulated prices of the fuel and liquefied petroleum products and made the announcement in a statement this morning.

The new retail fuel prices are:

– motor spirit –increases from $1.95 to $1.98 a litre ($0.03 increase a litre)

– premix – increases from $1.58 to $1.61 a litre ($0.03 increase)

– kerosene – price remains the same at $1.05 a litre; and

– diesel – down $0.01 to $1.63 a litre.

The new retail LPG prices:

– 4.5kg cylinder – increases from $11.41 to $11.66 ($0.25 increase)

– 12kg cylinder – up $0.67 to $31.09

– 13kg cylinder – from $32.95 to $33.69 (up $0.74)

– bulk gas from $2.13 to $2.15 – up $0.02 a kg); and

– autogas from $1.43 to $.144 – up $0.01 a litre).

The Commission stated that its fuel and LPG price review followed a one-month lag period, and as such the October 2020 regulated prices were based on the importations made in August by the fuel and LPG companies in the country.

The FCCC will conduct the next fuel and LPG price review on November 1, 2020.
