NEWLY-appointed Fiji National Rugby League chairman Commander of the Republic of Military Forces Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto is adamant that he and the newly-elected board members were ready to do their part for the development of the sport.

Naupoto in his first official capacity as chairman acknowledged the outgoing board for their hard work and that they were ready to continue to lift the standard of rugby league in Fiji to newer heights.

“We would continue the hard work of the previous board, we have a wealth of experience and we are ready to give back to rugby league as much as we can,” Naupoto said.

He said the two main areas the FNRL would now focus on was the progress and facilitation of local rugby players as they prepare for a long season with the Kaiviti Silktails in the New South Wales Rugby League Ron Massey Cup, and preparation for the Rugby World Cup in 2021.

Napolioni Batimala has been elected the deputy chairman with Don Natabe the new board secretary.

Naupoto takes over from the late Peni Musunamasi.
