The South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) expects boxers to show professionalism by honouring their contracts for the May 22 program which has now been postponed to July following the border lockdown because of the COVID-19 community cases.

The SPBP has already invested around $10,000 in the program which will feature two Fijian title bouts at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

SPBP promoter Mukesh ‘Fredy’ Chand said they had already paid the deposit for the venue to the Nadi Town Council and paid the deposit for Boxing Commission of Fiji for sanctioning the program.

He said as per the contracts, the boxers also had been paid 25 per cent of their fight purse.

Chand said he expected no changes to the program if the boxers adhered to their contracts and follow the COVID-19 health protocols and sporting guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health and the Government.

“We have rescheduled the event to be held at the same venue on July 17,” Chand said.

“However that will depend on the current situation and the greenlight from the Government for sporting events to resume with spectators.

“We are requesting the boxers to train individually to maintain their fitness level.”

Jese Ravudi and Siliveni Nawai are set to clash for the Fiji super welterweight title while Shamal Anuj and Ritesh Gounder will fight for the Fiji super bantamweight title.

Both title bouts are scheduled for 10×3 min rounds.

In the 8×3 min rounds supporting bouts, Joseph Kwadjo is billed to take on Isikeli Senidoko and Junior Farzan is set to face Nathan Singh.
