New committee appointed to run Fiji Weightlifting Association

NEW committee members have been appointed to run the Fiji Weightlifting Association after its annual general meeting over the weekend.

Association general secretary Peni Tawai said a five-year plan for the association would soon be set out by the new committee.

“The new weightlifting committee will soon draft out their five year strategic plans for the association.

“We are looking at major plans for the future of our elite weightlifters and the developing lifters,” said Tawai.

The new committee also hopes to uphold its aims and objectives through the running of the committee.

“Our aims and objectives are clear. To make our athletes reach out to their dreams through transparent administrative bodies.

“Strengthening the rights and voice of the athletes and encourage women in sports,” said Tawai.

New committee: President – Mereani Bitu, vice president- Makitalena Cikamatana, general secretary- Peni Tawai, treasurer- Sisifa Timi, Executive committee- Manueli Tulo, Joe Vueti (International/ regional delegate and advisor, Mesake Cikamatana, Development officers- Maria Liku, Apolonia Vaivai, Julia Timi, Voice of the athletes- Poama Qaqa.
