THE Suva Special School received a new 30-seater bus from the Japanese Embassy yesterday.

While handing over the bus, First Secretary for the Embassy of Japan Genta Yamada said the project was part of Japan’sĀ grant assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme.

“It gives me great happiness to say that with the provision of the new school bus, Suva Special School will be able to address its low attendance rates, which is due to the unavailability of special transportation for its students,” Mr Yamada said.

“The school has noted only 65 per cent attendance rates since the old bus stopped service in July last year. While the old bus was in service, the school teachers accompanied students and provided special care during pick up and drop off from school.”
The Suva Special School is located at Waimanu Road in Suva and provides education to students with special needs.
