Netball Fiji has released the names of a 12-member squad to participate in the PacificAus Sports Series in Sydney, Australia from March 21 to 26.
The side will be captained by Alisi Naqiri who will be assisted by Unaisi Rauluni.
Head coach Unaisi Rokoura said this would be their first major international competition since the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.
“COVID-19 has had a major effect on our international campaign and our athletes,” he said.
“The PacificAus Sports Series is our opportunity to test our elite netballers and to prepare ourselves for the Netball World Cup Oceania Qualifiers in July.”
Netball Fiji chief executive officer Vivian Koster said Netball Fiji was pleased to get its international campaign up and running again.
“We congratulate all the players who have fought for a place in the team, and those who have been successful in this round of selection.
“We look forward to a successful campaign.”
The PacificAus Sports Series is a result of the PacificAus Sports Partnership with Netball Australia and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Fiji will play international Test matches against Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea and Singapore.
A total of seven players will make their debut in Australia.
Fiji team squad: Alisi Naqiri (captain), Unaisi Rauluni (vice captain), Anaseini Nauqe, Ateca Qasenivalu, Avelina Navue, Ema Mualuvu, Jimaima Kete, Kaitlyn Fisher, Maliana Rusivakula, Matila Vocea, Sereana Maragi, Vaiti Waqatabu.
Non-travelling reserves: Elina Drikibau, Josephine Nailumu and Kalesi Tawake.
