Need to audit the Bills passed in the last Parliament sitting says Ro Filipe

THE manner in which Bills are passed in Parliament through Standing Order 51 shows no accountability.

Opposition MP Ro Filipe Tuisawau stressed this in Parliament today.

Ro Filipe said there was a need to audit the number of Bills passed in the last Parliament sitting.

“We need to do an audit on the number of Bills were passed and how many were taken for public consultation and, we are very concerned with the manner in which Bills are brought to Parliament through Standing Order 51,” Ro Filipe said.

“Where Bills are being rushed through without proper consultation and that’s a continuing issue that calls for the review of the Standing Orders so that there is accountability and good governance in the running of this Parliament, those some of the issues I thought to bring up.”
