NEWCOMERS Nasivikoso Saints will be aiming for exposure when the side debuts in the 33rd Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s which starts at Prince Charles Park in Nadi tomorrow.

The Saints team was formed two months ago by a dedicated church goer Junior Sorby who has been serving the village of Nasivikoso in the upper highlands of Magodro in the Ba Province for the past three years.

Sorby said they had an abundance of talent up in the highlands and the people were very humble.

“For the past three years I have been travelling to Nasivikoso every fortnight,” he said.

“Recently I came up with an initiative to stand up for them and lead them in something they are very good at.

“This is how the Nasivikoso Navilomani Saints Club was formed. We organised a 7s tournament at the village last Friday. The entry was free and we received overwhelming support with 16 teams participating.

“It also proved to be the ideal way to select the team for the Nawaka 7s.”

The Saints are grouped with powerhouse teams such as Police White, Uluinakau and GPS Gallopers. Sorby said it would cost the side $800 to travel for the tournament.

He said they would be billeted at Vatutu Village.

“We are travelling all the way from the interior of Viti Levu and many of the boys hardly get to see the urban area,” he said.

“So it will be an exciting trip.

“To top it off we are playing champion teams like Uluinakau and Police White in the group stage.

“These boys could not have asked for stiffer competition.

“It will serve as the way to climb the ladder and progress and to learn to work as a team.”
