Navy defends title, runs over QVSOB

NAVY defended the Suva Rugby Union Escott Shield challenge trophy beating QVSOB 49-8 at Bidesi Ground in Suva yesterday.
Navy cordoned off their defence line and did not give any chance to their opponents to cross the try line.
The side played smart rugby from the first whistle and gave a tough time to the QVSOB side.
Navy managed to score tries through captain Jolame Bera, Lemeki Damu and Seveci Naisilisili.
There were two succesful conversions by Mosese Tikoduadua and a penalty for the first half 22-0 lead.
Two yellow cards issued were given to QVSOB right lock Vilikesa Sewale and Navy centre Eroni Bulamaileya.
In the second half, the Victorians managed to score a try from centre Joseph Vurewa and the conversion was unsuccessful but he managed to slot in a penalty.
They were no match for the seamen as they came in firing scoring four tries, three to Waisale Urabuta and Damu scored his second try.
With fly half Tikoduadua converting all their second half tries to seal the deal.
Navy no.8 Jitoko Usamate was given a red card.
Best player was given to QVSOB hooker Rovia Tolo.
Manager Osea Natuva was happy with the players’ performance and hopes his players will learn from their mistake and try to improve in next week’s competition.
“We will treat all the games as the final,” he said.
