Navuniivi village in Ra celebrate trio’s achievements

THE village of Navuniivi, Navitilevu in Ra today celebrated the milestone achievements of three of its own who have successfully paved the way for other youngsters in becoming the first to achieve such honours from the village.

The trio includes Paula Dranisinukula, Josaia Buadrua and Tomasi Macedru.

Dranisinukula was acknowledged for his achievement as the national 7s skipper and leading the team to win the Hong Kong 7s for a record of five years in a row.

Buadrua who is a naval officer was recognised as the highest ranking officer and first officer from the village.

While Macedru was the first from the village to have graduated with a masters honours.

Tui Navitilevu, Ratu Paula Baleisasa while delivering his emotional speech at the ceremony said the occasion was a new dawn for the village of Navuniivi.

Ratu Paula said the day was rightfully chosen for the vanua and that God has already ordained it to celebrate the achievements of three of Navuniivi’s children within the education, military and sporting arena.

He thanked them for their perseverance and hard work which has led to victorious achievement to the village and the country as a whole.

Ratu Paula told the trio that they are a living testimony for the younger generation within the village to work hard as well to match or excel in whatever they would like to pursue in life.
