Navua Football Association is beefing up its side this season.

To make its team stronger, NFA is working on securing the services of a Suriname international to be part of their team this year.

Suriname or Surinam, Wikipedia reports, is officially known as the Republic of Suriname.

It is a country on the northeastern Atlantic coast of South America.

Tivo Limon, who plays for SV. Bernharddorp as an attacking forward in Suriname, has shown interest in joining Navua.

Association president Rajeev Prasad has confirmed applying for the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for the South American Limon.

“We have sent the request for ITC to Fiji FA and are hopeful that he will be cleared before our first match,” Prasad said.

“After doing some homework, we gathered that we needed a good marksman who could finish well and we are glad to have spotted Tivo.”

The Surinen, 29, would be a boost for the struggling Navua side which managed to keep its Premier Division spot after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nadroga in its last match last season.

Prasad has also confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Senirusi Bokini from Rewa.

“Bokini has joined us. We have lodged his application and he should also be available for our first match. There are a few other players whom we are in talks with right now.”

Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal confirmed that Tivo Limon’s ITC application had been sent to Suriname Football Association and a response would be expected before next week.

Meanwhile, the Digicel Premier League is expected to begin on February 5.
