Nausori businessman found guilty of receiving stolen property

A NAUSORI businessman has been found guilty of one count of receiving stolen property by the Nausori Magistrates Court.

The court heard that Ajay Shashikant Pala dishonestly obtained stolen jewelleries valued at $52,900 between November 30, 2013, and February 8, 2014, in Nausori.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said that Pala did not issue any receipts for the stolen jewellery he bought.

He added that Pala had no intention of returning the jewellery to the rightful owner and was melting it for his own business.

Pala has been remanded and will be sentenced on October 2, 2018.
