MORE than 30 organisations and higher education providers are expected to be part of the first National Job Fair to be held at the FMF National Gymnasium on April 24-25.

Organised by the Ministry of Employment’s National Employment Centre and the Fiji Higher Education Commission, the main objective of the job fair is to primarily create opportunities for all Fijians, in particular, young people (between the ages of 18-35 years), so that they were informed of clear pathways from education to productive employment together with other opportunities that were available.

“The National Job Fair promotes the hiring and career development of all individuals regardless of qualifications. It is the direct human approach and we encourage everyone to attend the National Job Fair to take advantage of this opportunity,” said ministry deputy secretary Vilimone Baledrokadroka.

Mr Baledrokadroka said in addition, the fair provided a platform for all Fijians to look at employment opportunities and choices; as well as to seek employment advice and internship prospects; enable all unemployed Fijians to engage with industry and education providers under one roof; and presents opportunities to Fijians who had opted out of mainstream education and wished to further their studies through higher education institutes.

The event will be held from 8am to 5pm.
