Does the national airline still want to appeal the decision of the Employment Tribunal in favour of 245 workers who were terminated in 2020?
This question will be answered when the matter is next called before High Court Judge Justice Javed Mansoor on Friday, June 9.
The matter was called before Justice Manssoor in the High Court at Suva last Friday.
Fiji Airways’ lawyer, Gul Fatima, told the court there were discussions concerning the airlines’ position and whether they still wanted the court to deliver a judgment on their application for leave to appeal the Employment Tribunals’ decision not to strike out the grievances of 245 terminated flight attendants.
It is understood that the airline and the workers are in negotiations on the return of the terminated workers to their posts.
Counsel for the workers Jon Apted said the issue was now moot and that the 12 principal grievers had since terminated their grievance claims.
The matter will be called on Friday for Fiji Airways to say whether they want the court to grant leave to appeal the Employment Tribunals.
