Nathan Cleary says he’d throw the same cut-out pass despite suffering NRL grand final heartbreak

What Nathan Cleary would give to not throw the same looping cut-out ball again.

Penrith’s superstar No 7 was kept eerily quiet in the 26-20 NRL grand final loss to the Melbourne Storm on Sunday night.

He did well to barge his way to the try-line in the final seconds to set up one final miracle.

But it was Cleary’s pass just after the half hour that will unfortunately feature on the highlights reel and hurt the most.

He was close to tears after full-time when he said: “That’s super disappointing. I felt I let the boys down. I threw that intercept … we let in too many ordinary tries.”
