To say this Government is doing nothing to control this COVID-19 outbreak is an offence to the thousands of people out there risking their lives, says Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Vijay Nath.

Speaking in the Parliament he said it was an “offence” to the civil servants out there risking their lives and that of their families to ensure that those in vulnerable conditions are assisted.

“Honourable Biman and others have mentioned that Government is not taking full control of the COVID-19 outbreak,” he said.

“To say that this Government is doing nothing to control this COVID-19 outbreak is an offence to the thousands of civil servants out there risking their lives and that of their families to ensure that those in vulnerable conditions are assisted on a daily basis.

“Rather than criticising Government and the civil service we must thank them for their commitment towards assisting with the containment of the current COVID-19 outbreak.”
