THE Nasomo Landowners Trust in Tavua were paid $46,400 by the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources as the fourth payment of their fair share of gold and silver royalties.

According to the Government, a total of 123 landowners were given the payout for gold and silver mined or extracted by Vatukoula Gold Mines Ltd under Nasomo Trust land.

“Since the Fair Share of Mineral Royalty Act was enacted in May 2018 and inclusive of today’s payout, the current Government will have paid out approximately $230,000 to the Nasomo Landowners Trust,” said Raymond Mohammed, the Ministry’s Manager Mines.

The payment was welcomed by landowners, who have contributed to a community project fund to refurbish their hall and kindergarten.
