NASINU Secondary School (NSS) yesterday destroyed Ratu Kadavulevu School’s (RKS) hope of winning the under-19 South Eastern Zone Secondary Schools Rugby League champion title for the second year in a row.
NSS defeated the Lodoni boys 22-10 after a tough match at the Marist Brothers High School ground in Flagstaff, Suva.
Head coach Mosese Rova said the team had been expecting a tough match from RKS.
“We had been through a tough week of training because we knew we were going to fight a tough battle from Ratu Kadavulevu.
“We would like to thank the RKS side for giving us a good run so now we would need to prepare for the national quarter-finals next week,” said Rova.
“There are a few areas we want to improve like our defence and attack and we are looking forward for next week,” he said.
Meanwhile in the under-17 grade Ratu Sukuna Memorial School (RSMS) and Nasinu Secondary School finished with an 18-all draw.
After going into sudden-death no score was made from each side thus the winning title had been given to RSMS for scoring the most tries.
The winner for the under-15 grade is yet to be confirmed tomorrow due to technical issues.
The national quarter-finals will be played on Saturday at Garvey Park in Tavua.
