Nasilasila pleads not guilty; case transferred to Suva

THE case for former Fiji sevens player, Amenoni Nasilasila who is charged with one count of rape has been transferred to the High Court in Suva.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) the matter was called today at the High Court in Lautoka before Justice Rangajeeva Wimalasena.

It is alleged he raped a 24-year-old woman in Sigatoka on December 22, 2018.

The State informed the court that the matter would not be withdrawn after the Defence made a representation to the Director of Public Prosecutions requesting for the matter to be withdrawn.

The charge was read to the accused and he pleaded not guilty.

The case will now be called for mention on April 10, 2019 at the High Court in Suva.

The accused person’s bail has been further extended.
