Aircraft manufacturer Boeing is looking to push its narrow bodied 737 aircraft in the South Pacific where the company forecasts a growth in passenger traffic.
Boeing Commercial Marketing managing director Asia Pacific Dave Schulte said short and medium-haul flights continue to be a popular choice for travellers within the region making the single aisle aircraft an ideal choice for airlines.
He said one of the most demanded aircraft was its Max 8s.
“We have sold 1800 Maxs since November so the market demand is there,” he said.
“The airplane has flown 4.8billion flight hours since it’s been back in service and it has tremendous success around the world.
“Also closer to the region, we have Batik Air they are flying the world’s longest Boeing 737 flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne with a Max 8.”
Mr Schulte added that the company was consistently working with their clients in the region including Fiji Airways to discuss their products.
“We are always working with all of the airlines and we prefer to see our products in their fleets and we want to see how we can make that possible for them.”
The company is also marketing its wide bodied aircraft which offer better capacity for passenger and cargo traffic.
