Narcotics officers intercept Wainunu farmer at Salia jetty

Narcotics officers from the Northern Division have arrested a 35-year-old Wainunu farmer in Bua, Vanua Levu, for his alleged involvement in the sale of illicit drugs.

Police said they had received a tip from a member of the public.

Fiji Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan said officers from Labasa and Savusavu intercepted the farmer at Salia Jetty in Tunuloa where they discovered illicit drugs believed to be marijuana ready to be sold.

He said the suspect tried to flee but was apprehended by officers.

He has acknowledged the support of the public in sharing information that led to the successful operation where drugs intended to be sold were intercepted.
