FIJIFIRST’S 2018 general election candidate Sachida Nand will fill the vacant party seat in Parliament. The seat was left vacant following the resignation of Mereseini Vuniwaqa from the party.

In a statement, Electoral Commission chairman Suresh Chandra said after a meeting of the commission, he resolved that Mr Nand, “candidate number 586, having secured 472 votes in the 2018 General Election is the highest ranked out of the candidates of the FijiFirst who did not get elected to Parliament but is still available to serve,” as per section 64(1) of the 2013 Constitution of the Republic of Fiji.

He said the commission approved the awarding of the vacant parliamentary seat to him.
