The Namosi rugby team will ensure that the players are prepared well to successfully defend the coveted Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy against Nadi this Saturday.

The match will serve as a double-header in the penultimate round of the Skipper Cup competition. Namosi goes into the fixture on a high note after defeating Lautoka 20-16 at Churchill Park in Lautoka last Saturday.

However, Namosi is wary of Nadi’s prowess, especially having lost to the Jetsetters 29-12 in round six of the competition in August.

Namosi team manager Jo Vosanibola said they had their work cut out in preparation for Nadi.

He said the players needed to lift their discipline level which was not up to par against Lautoka.

“We gave away too many penalties in that match,” Vosanibola said.

“Luckily for us Lautoka did not capitalise on those opportunities. There was also a lot of individual play. The boys need to communicate a lot to combine well.

“It is back to the drawing board for us this week to work on our weaknesses.”

Vosanibola said their focus was to defend the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy.

“A positive result in this match will eventually seal our semi-final position in the Skipper Cup competition. It will be a tough game because Nadi is a strong side and have a tradition of winning the Fabebrother-Sullivan Trophy in the past.

“We will not underestimate them at any cost.”
