Namoli edged out a spirited Naviyago side 29-27 during the Lautoka club rugby competition’s Super Premier match at Nadovu Park in Lautoka yesterday.
Namoli team manager Malakai Talakinana said it was a tough match for them as they fielded a number of young players.
“It is a development side and the important part is that we got a win,” Talakinana said.
He said there were a lot of things the boys could take away from the match, however, there were certain aspects such as fitness which they had to work hard on.
“We trust our players which was shown as they integrated quickly on the field when we sent in the substitutions. We told the boys to stick to the game plan and work according to it,” he said.
Naviyago coach Isoa Damudamu said his boys played a good game and was pleased with their attitude on the field.
“We conceded two tries through lose balls and only if we had started better, we could have won the match,” Damudamu said.
“It took some time for the boys to settle down and following that we dominanted the game – the lineout, set-piece play and the scrums.”
He said the side had improved every week on their consistency and looked forward to round eight next week.
