Naitasiri youths join in planting trees

YOUTHS from 11 villages in the district of Naitasiri in Naitasiri province yesterday planted close to 30 trees as part of their contribution to the 4Million trees in 4 years initiative.

Speaking to the youths at the Navuso village hall today, Ministry of Forestry Forester in the Reforestation on Degraded Forest Maleli Nakasava advised youths to assist in reducing the impact of climate change.

“The aim is to have one million trees planted around the country by the end of this year and this is to recover our forest cover,” he said.

Naitasiri Provincial Council conservation officer Semi Sauliga said the United Nations Development Programme has given a funding of $96,000 for villages within the country to set a committee on natural resources.
