Naitasiri Secondary school has secured their spot in the Eastern Zone secondary schools rugby under-19 final against Nasinu Secondary School this weekend.
The boys from the highlands defeated Sacred Heart College 38-21 while Nasinu beat Lomary 34-7 at the Suva Grammar School grounds yesterday.
Manager Timoci Lagilevu said the boys played their hearts out but there was still room for improvement before Saturday.
“We did well in the first half but when I came to the second half the boys had slackened down, they were making a lot of mistakes that gave Lomary a chance to score more tries,” he said.
“We had a disciplinary action that saw us being given two yellow cards and one red card.
“We can’t make that same mistake in the final, this is the first time we’ve reached the final in any deans competition and our plan is to make it to the national competition.”
He said they faced a lot of challenge every day in terms of coming to play every weekend.
“But we’re grateful for the support from the school to let us play.”
In the other grades, Suva Grammar School will take on Marist Brothers High School in the under 17 final while Nasinu Secondary School will take on MBHS this weekend.
