THE hunger of wanting to be future national sevens rep forced Ilisoni Kuriyalavou from Draiba Village and  Ratu Meli Nakasavu from Keiyasi Village in Navosa’s interior to travel 120km to Namatakula Village to play rugby.

The duo wanted to play for the Ratu Filise under 17 team competing in the Nadroga rugby sevens tournament that kicked off at Lawaqa Park and Kalevu ground today.

Kuriyalavou studies in Navosa Central School and Nakasavu attends Natabua High School in Lautoka. Both lads sacrificed their holidays to fight for a spot in the Ratu Filise team.

They won all their pool games today and are looking forward to the eliminations tomorrow at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

The Nadroga rugby sevens tournament kicked off yesterday and ends on Saturday with 161 teams competing in six categories.
