“The understanding between the players is missing; seven of my first choice players are unavailable and I have to make do with what is on offer,” said the Nadi football team’s head coach.

Schoolteacher Kamal Swamy lamented the teams numerous scoring opportunities against Rewa last week resulting in their 0-1 loss at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

“We are working on those lines this week. Finishing is a definite problem with the team right now. We created so many chances but we could not finish,” he said.

“The boys want to hit from anywhere which is impossible. Scoring range is something else and hitting from far away to score is something else so we are working on those lines.

“I am preparing session plans on those to work on. It is about capitalising on the goal scoring chances however minimum.”

When quizzed on the Nasinu soccer team’s campaign in the 2020 local football scene, the Korovuto College schoolteacher stated that Nasinu would be a strong team especially after defeating current local soccer champions Standard Hire-sponsored Labasa football team 1-0 last week.

“It will be a tough battle and it will not be a walkover. Nasinu is a good team. Looking at Nadi’s performance so far we can say that Nasinu is rated higher than us at the moment”.

“We need to work harder; work in formations and systems where we can have good tactical play to win the game.”

Swamy said while Nadi fans were yearning for a win he had requested them to be patient.

“It cannot happen in a day or overnight. I need to work with the team.

“The fans should give me time. There are so many things that the players need to understand which I have to rectify and correct.”

The Nasinu team is riding high at the moment and will surely not lack confidence when it clashes against the Jetsetters.

The Korovuto College head of PEMAC shared his thoughts on the style of football he intends to introduce.

“Nadi has been known to play long balls.

“I am trying to change the style of play because modern day football is different.

“It is about possession football and it becomes difficult if a player does not understand.”

Nadi will host giant-killers Nasinu on Sunday at 3pm as the 43rd version of the Vodafone Premier League round four kicks off.
