TAILEVU Naitasiri coach Sandeep Roy believes 90 minutes football should apply for the premier division at the Courts Inter District Championship.
This is after his side was walloped 4-0 by Nadi in the opening round at Prince Charles Park on Saturday.
Making a return to the super premier level after many years, the Tailevu Naitasiri team disintegrated in the last quarter.
Shafim Buksh scored for the Jetsetters in the second minute while William Valentine, Ratu Josefata Dugucagi and Lekima Gonerau’s goals came late in the fixture.
Roy said their lack of experience clearly showed.
“At the tournaments at premier level we play 60 minutes football,” he said.
“That was the telling point. In the last 15 minutes the boys were all over the place.
“Going back to training now we will have to work on our fitness to play at full strength for the duration of the match.
“There is a need to play 90 minutes football at premier level. We need more exposure at this level.
“We are happy to be back at the super premier level. But the score line does not reflect the effort of the boys.
“We matched Nadi in all departments except for the final 30 minutes.”
“We are looking forward to the remaining matches and definitely hope to do better in the remaining matches.”
Tailevu Naitasiri goalkeeper Josaia Ratu stood out in the encounter making some spectacular saves to prevent Nadi from raking up a higher margin.
