Nadi Police seize 6000-plus marijuana plants

FIJIAN Police seized more than 6000 plants of marijuana following a raid conducted in the interior of Nasaua in Nadi last Thursday morning.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the raid was conducted by officers from the Nadi Police Station.

She said a 23-year-old man originally from Taveuni, Vanua Levu, was arrested during the raid where the plants ranging from 10cm to 2m, more than 900 bullet-sized packs and a garbage bag of dried leaves were seized.

Ms Naisoro said the young man had been charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.

He will be produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court tomorrow.
