Nadi hammers Nadro

NADI thumped Nadroga 4-0 at Lawaqa Park yesterday to lead the Western Zone Rewa Galaxy Youth League competition after the completion of the first round of competition.

Talented Mosese Namumu scored two goals while Anthony Saro and Mataiasi Toma also registered their names on the goal scoring list to maintain Nadi’s unbeaten run in the competition.

The Jetsetters lead the standings on seven points followed by Lautoka on six points while Ba is on third spot on four points.

Nadroga is yet to register a point after losing all their three round robin games.

Nadi team manager Mohammed Mohin Rafiq said his players worked hard during training to secure their second win of the competition.

He said the team failed to find their rhythm in the first spell but regrouped in the second half to score four unanswered goals.

“The players were committed to their training and reaped the fruit of their hard work with a deserving win,” said Rafiq.

“The boys did not play well in the first spell but came out firing in the second spell to beat Nadroga.

“The win has given us the opportunity to lead the points table and the boys have been told to put in extra effort during the second round.”

Rafiq said the aim was to maintain their impressive form in the second round of competition.

“We know that all teams will prepare well in the second round and we also need to lift our preparation.”
