Nadi athletes break 8 records

Update: 5:07PM EIGHT new records have been set at the Coca Cola Nadi Athletics Zone meet currently happening at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.

Korovuto College Alena Naiyala was in top form breaking the Open Girls 1500m record she set last year with a time of 5min 54.03sec.  Naiyala who dominated the race right from the start is surely one of the gold contenders at this year’s Coca Cola Games.

Two more new records were set in the 1500m finals with Raivai Mesulame of Nasesevia Secondary School clocking a time of 5m 04.30sec in the sub junior boys grade and Cere George John of Swami Viveknanda College in the inter boys with a time of 4min 44.17sec.

Other records were set by Nemani Delaivoni of Nadi Sangam in the inter boys javelin with the distance of 46.39m. The old record 40.48m was set by Asalusi of Nadi Muslim in 2016.

Rusiate Vakaloloma of SVC set a new distance of 12.56m in the inter boys shot put and Pauliasi Kuya also setting a  new record in the sub junior boys discuss on 39.36m.

In the sub junior 800m Alipate Tomu of Nasesevia Secondary School set a new time of 2mins 27.61, Joseph O’Neil of Nawai Secondary broke the sub junior boys discuss with a new distance of 26.8m. Sainimere Tinatabuluti of Ratu Navula also engraved her name in the zone senior girls 800m with a time of 3min 00.87sec.

Meanwhile, the feature race for the day is the senior boys 100m final which will be held later in the afternoon.
