Naciqa, Rakuro lose bouts

FIJIAN professional boxers Apisai Naciqa and Ratu Rakuro lost their bouts against Samoan opponents in Samoa over the weekend.

According to a report by the Samoan Observer, Naciqa lost via a technical knockout to Plodzicki Faoagali.

Rakuro went the distance but lost on points to Marion Ah Tong.

Both Faoagali and Ah Tong were taking part in their first professional bouts.

According to the report, Faoagali’s coach Steven Faoagali said he rated the fight as a seven out of 10 and the boxer could have done better.

Meanwhile Fijian boxer Apisai Naciqa told the Samoan Observer that Faoagali was a different breed and he found that out in the ring.

He said he was taught a lesson and would be back better.

The bouts took place at the Tuanaimato Sports Complex in Apia.

Meanwhile, Fiji Bati and Parramatta Eels winger Maika Sivo was also in Samoa for the boxing match.

He was in Apia to support his partner Korina’s brother, Plodzicki.
