Nabua Secondary School athletes were boosted with confidence when the Coca-Cola Games Torch arrived at their school yesterday.
Team manager Moape Waqamailau said the torch meant a lot to the school, especially spending the night to brighten the school yard.
“The 19 athletes will build their confidence for the Coca-Cola Games with the presence of the torch during their training in the afternoon (yesterday) and it will boost their morale for the big day ahead,” he said.
Kasanita Biu is among the school’s top athletes in the Fiji Finals.
“Kasanita is a gold medal prospect that we have.
“Last year she won silver, so we hope she will bag the first gold medal for Nabua for the first time in many years,” said Waqamailau.
Biu said she had been struggling with her training, but it would not stop her from achieving her dream.
“I have been facing some difficulties at home in regards to my preparation, but I will try my best to keep my focus on one thing and that is to bring glory to my school,” she said.
Biu won the 200 metres senior girls event last year in the Coca-Cola Games.
