A FATHER who is alleged to have caused the death of his four-month-old daughter during a domestic dispute last year  informed the High Court in Suva that he would like to be represented by the Legal Aid Commission.

Tevita Veicavuyaki Kunawave who appeared before  Justice Daniel Goundar is facing a murder charge.

The matter was called for his bail hearing and the Court was informed that the Legal Aid Commission was approached by the suspect’s family if they could represent him in the case.

Legal Aid  lawyer Lice Manulevu told Court that Legal Aid was only representing the accused  in his bail matter and not the substantive matter.

Mr Kunawave who was previoulsy represented by Isireli Romanu from MIQ Lawyers told the Court that he no longer require the services of MIQ Lawyers and wished to be represented by Legal Aid in both matters.

The accused has been further remanded and the matter has been adjourned to January 31, for plea.
