A Sigatoka man appeared before the Magistrates Court in Nadi yesterday for the alleged murder of his de facto partner in Kabisi, Sigatoka on Wednesday.

Anand Kumar appeared before magistrate Peni Dalituicama charged with one count of murder, two counts of breach of the domestic violence restraining order and one count of breach of bail conditions.

Police prosecutor Inspector Mohammed Shameem requested the matter be transferred to the High Court in Lautoka and that Mr Kumar be remanded in police custody.

“The Magistrates Court does not have the power to hear murder cases and the case will be transferred to the High Court,” Mr Dalituicama told the accused.

The case will be called again on August 7.
