MSAF advises mariners as Severe TC Harold approaches

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is advising all Ship Masters, Ship Owners & Ship Agents for foreign & local ships, Pilots, Port Management Companies/Operators, Marinas and Yacht Clubs of the approach of Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold.
A severe Tropical Cyclone Harold centre 924hpa category 5 was located near 16.4 south 169.6 east or about 850 kilometres west of Nadi at 10.17am today.
MSAF is advising mariners of the following:
-A storm warning is now in force for Vatulele and Kadavu.
-A gale warning is now in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca group and Viti Levu.
-A strong wind warning is now in force for the rest of Fiji.
-A damaging heavy swell warning is now in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Western and Southern coast of Viti Levu, Vatulele, Beqa, Kadavu and Southern Lau group.
-A heavy rain warning is now in force for the Fiji group.
-A Tropical Cyclone alert is now in force for Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.
MSAF stated Marine Clearance in the Western, Central and Eastern Division for all ships are to cease at midnight tonight Tuesday 07/04/20 at 11.59pm until further notice except for emergency evacuation runs as required.
Ship owners must provide all necessary support to Ship Masters of their ships and exercise good judgment to ensure the vessels are kept safe during the passing of the cyclone.
