Mourners farewell late Tui Nawaka in Nadi

Hundreds have gathered today to bid their final farewell to Tui Nawaka Ratu Asaeli Driu Naevo at Nawaka Village in Nadi.

The Momo na Tui Nawaka passed away last Monday after a short illness at the age of 56.

Ratu Asaeli was the eighth Tui Nawaka and was also one of the co-founders of the People’s Alliance Party.

His casket rested overnight at his traditional home of Nalagi before he was laid to rest today.

Among the mourners present are SODELPA leader Viliame Gavoka, People’s Alliance Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka, Member of Parliament and Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa, Opposition Member of Parliament Lynda Tabuya, and Marama Taukei Naua and Fiji First party president Adi Tema Sovau Varo.
