A MOTORCYCLIST from Nadi has died when he was allegedly involved in an accident while travelling to Sigatoka this afternoon.

Fiji Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the accident happened in the last hour.

She said the man had allegedly lost control of his bike and veered onto the opposite lane.

“He was involved in a head-on collision with a four-wheel drive,” Ms Naisoro said.

She added the death could not be classified as a road death until after a post-mortem examination was conducted.

An eyewitness told Fiji Times Online that the scene was horrifying.

Joji Naisua said the motorcycle collided into a government vehicle, and at least five of the passengers in that vehicle received minor injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
