ALL transfers of motor vehicles and public service vehicles permit registered with the Land Transport Authority will be subject to Stamp Duty.

This was made possible after a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services (FRCS) and LTA, which will encourage the promotion of mutual cooperation in the areas of information sharing and other related matters.

FRCS chief executive officer Visvanath Das said LTA and FRSC would have controlled access to its online system database to assist in the administration and enforcement of their laws.

Mr Dass stressed that LTA would provide the services required for the members of the FRCS Gold Card Services.

He added both organisations would pursue staff development joint training programs and staff exchange where appropriate and if necessary.

LTA board chairperson Vijay Maharaj said the signing of the MOU was a milestone achievement which would strengthen both organisations.

He added there were certain areas of work within the two organisations which were connected to each other and in some cases dependent on each other’s decision.
