Teresia Ema of Lami Village is calling on authorities to help her family bring justice to her son, Lemeki Duidomo, who was murdered outside a motel in Suva last month.

Ms Ema’s life has not been the same since the tragic demise of her son.

And according to her eldest daughter, Jasiliva Rokobote, her mother has been having sleepless nights trying to figure out whether those responsible for the death of her son will be apprehended and dealt with accordingly.

When this newspaper visited their home, Ms Ema was seated in the far left corner of their house gazing through her son’s photos pinned to the walls of their house in tears.

And every time a visitor stops by at their home, Ms Ema would rush out wishing that a new development had emerged over the death of her son.

One month later, Ms Ema still gets the same news — “investigations continue”.

Ms Ema said it saddens her that nothing had been achieved since the death of Lemeki.

She claimed that they have been running around contacting police and pushing them to dive deep into the case.

Ms Ema also claimed that the last time police officers visited their home was the week Lemeki died.

“At least give us an update,” she said. Her daughter, Ms Rokobote, said it saddened her to see her mother in this situation.

Ms Rokobote has been working round-the-clock trying to understand what happened to her brother.

“When I called those officers responsible they kept saying the same thing over and over again and now we’ve been told that a new officer was looking into our case,” she said.

“It’s like they are making us give up already and that is uncalled for.”

Lemeki’s dad, Sailasa Rasala, said that the group that went with his son on the day he was murdered were now enjoying themselves in the village without his son.

“He is supposed to be here with his peers but he’s not,” he said.

“I miss my son very much and I just hope justice prevails.”

When contacted yesterday, police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said investigations were still ongoing. “The investigators are doing their best ensuring that they get things right,” she said.
