A SINGLE mother of two is counting her blessings after her daughter’s heart defect was eliminated through an open-heart surgery.
Priya Dutt, mother of six-year-old Shaniya Dutt, said she could not thank the medical team from the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Raipur, India, who operated on her daughter last week.
Shaniya had a defect in her heart that used to easily make her run out of breath.
Ms Dutt also acknowledged the Sai Prema Foundation for organising the free heart surgeries for her daughter and also three other children.
“I thank God for the amazing doctors and nurses who operated on her and the Sai Prema people for bringing them,” Ms Dutt said.
The Sai Prema Foundation, with help from the Ministry of Health, organises visits from medical teams as part of its Gift of Life initiative.
The international team which is led by head surgeon Dr Asish Katewa comprises 15 medical specialists.
Sai Prema Foundation director Sumeet Tappoo said the foundation was humbled to make a difference in the lives of children.
The team hopes to treat 25 children before they return.
