A mother of two is relying on good Samaritans to assist her in raising $6000 so that she can travel overseas for her son’s operation.

Babita Wati’s eight-year-old son Shaniketh was diagnosed with Blount’s disease on the left leg and has been selected for treatment at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Hawaii in July.

Blount’s disease is a growth disorder of the tibia which causes the lower leg to angle inward to resemble a bowleg.

The family has been tight on finances since losing their home in a fire earlier this year.

“We are pleading for assistance from the public, if anyone can help us.

My son is attending Year 2 at Central Primary School in Lautoka and we need to be in Hawaii by July 9,” the 50-year-old said.

Ms Wati said they had not been able to raise any funds because of losing their home in February.

“We have been living at a relative’s place but this is our focus now.”

Those interested in helping the family can contact 9930360 or 2181949 or deposit directly in Ms Wati’s Bank of Baroda account number 91020100004339.
