More roads closed

Update: 11:03AM MORE roads around the country have been closed as fallen trees block access.
Fiji Roads Authority’s latest situation report confirms that fallen trees have closed roads throughout all divisions and isolated flooding is occurring.
“FRA’s contractors are currently clearing all main roads and emergency service access roads then will be concentrating on feeder roads to ensure access is restored,” it said.
“Due to the extent of debris on roads combined with electrical wires, it is very slow to make progress through some sites.
“This combined with the significant amount of traffic and pedestrians in Suva and Lautoka who are breaking curfew are restricting emergency services in clearing roads.”
The authority has also requested for an increased police pressure to enforce curfew to keep public safe and so that recovery is not impeded.
