THE life of a newly-crowned 2018 Miss Hibiscus the following day begins with the time spent with her loved ones.

This was the case for Miss Fiji Society for the Blind Jessica Fong after she was crowned the Hibiscus queen last night at the Valelevu grounds in Nasinu.

A team from this newspaper visited her place earlier today as Miss Fong slipped right back to her usual routine of helping out in household chores and being in the company of her family at home in Suva.

Currently a student at the Fiji National University, Miss Fong is pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery.

She said it was the love and support of her family that helped her throughout the week-long pageant.

Miss Fong said she decided to join this year’s festival with charity being her driving motivation and her desire to represent The Fiji Society for the Blind.

The 23-year-old is of Fijian-Chinese heritage, and her mother is part-Samoan. She is the eldest of four siblings.

She will be representing Suva at the Miss Fiji pageant later in the year.
