THE Ministry of Health yesterday received more than 1000 pulse oximeters, hygiene kits for home-based isolation cases and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials from the Fiji Red Cross Society.

In a Government statement, Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said the NGO had been an integral part of the ministry’s efforts fight against COVID-19.

“On behalf of the Fijian Government, I’d like to sincerely thank the Fiji Red Cross for the work that we have done together, we value our partnerships and because of our partnerships with our stakeholders, we are easing the restrictions that we have,” he said.

Fiji Red Cross Society director general Ilisapeci Rokotunidau said the given items were identified during their officer’s interaction with the ministry.

“We have looked at areas that the Red Cross could assist in and do understand that some of these items will be needed not only in the main hospitals but also in our health centres and remote nursing stations,” she said.

Ms Rokotunidau said that the fight against COVID-19 was everyone’s responsibility.
