FIJI’S Ministry of Education is now investigating a case where a teacher at a school in Nausori took leave without informing the respective head of school.

Minister Rosy Akbar made this known at the meeting she had with heads of schools in Suva last week.

She said the teacher had taken a 20-day leave without informing the head of school.

For such cases, Ms Akbar said when reported to the ministry, an investigation was imminent.

She said such an attitude from teachers could affect student learning.

Ms Akbar said teachers should be made aware that a chunk of the nation’s budget was injected into the education ministry.

More reports from the heads of schools meeting will be published in tomorrow’s edition of The Fiji Times.
